Services

Pre-Divorce Planning

Whether or not you have made a formal decision to divorce, consulting with an attorney may be appropriate in order to gain a solid understanding of your rights and the divorce process in your state. Most attorneys charge a fee even for an initial consultation. With that in mind, it is in your economic best interest to be as prepared as possible, with as much information you have access to, prior to meeting with an attorney for the first time.

I will work with you to document your personal history and financial details so that you can provide that information to the attorney in advance so that she or he will have time to review prior to your meeting.

I will also help you craft a comprehensive list of questions to ask the attorney about your situation. Your advanced preparation will allow the attorney to address your specific situation and provide you with appropriate information, alternatives, and guidance.

Divorce Financial Analysis

Whether you choose to use the court system, mediation, or plan to go it alone, you will need a solid financial plan that takes into account both current and future needs for you and your family. I will strategize with you and provide you with documented financial support and ensure that you have the financial insights and answers you need to avoid costly mistakes regarding alimony, child support, asset and debt division, estate planning, and taxes.

Post-Divorce Planning

Divorce is a life-changing event, the aftermath of which you may not feel fully prepared for. Divorce in midlife can often provide both challenges and opportunities. Post-divorce planning starts before the divorce is final, is tailored around your specific circumstances, and provides you with the support, the skills, and the strategic plan to move forward with your life in a productive way.

In addition to working with you to ensure that the laundry list of important but often overlooked post-divorce tasks is completed, we will develop a roadmap specific to your goals, whether it be developing budgeting and financial management strategies, creating a roadmap for career development or launching a new endeavor.

Divorce Coaching

The process of divorce is different for everyone, and it can be very easy to allow emotions to lead you to lose focus. It can be a stressful time full of life-changing decisions to be made on behalf of multiple parties. Making major life decisions, many of which will be final, under times of emotional upheaval, can be economically disastrous, and it can be very easy to get distracted, lose focus, or simply miss important issues.

Well-meaning friends are not going to be informed enough to provide you with adequate guidance. Relying on your attorney to educate you and hold your hand throughout every detailed aspect of the divorce process can be inefficient and expensive. As your coach, my job is to guide you and help you identify and prioritize what is truly important to you and your family, and steer you clear of pitfalls by ensuring that you’re fully informed. The coaching process includes Pre-Planning, Financial Analysis, and Post-Planning including regularly scheduled coaching sessions, worksheets, forms, and email access. It’s also my job, and my privilege, to support you emotionally and help keep you focused, and purpose driven so that you can get to the other side in the best possible position for you.
